Prospect Profile: Judson Morris

Left hander Judson Ryan Morris born January 10th 1988, was taken in the fourth round out of high school in 2006.

At 6' 3" 175lbs Judson has a good frame for a starting pitcher. His fastball sits at around 88-92 MPH. He projects to possibly add a little velocity to that as he matures. He also has a pretty good changeup and curveball too go along with his fastball.

Like any young pitchers he struggled a bit with his control as evidence by his 31 walks in 64.2 innings last year but its nothing to be worried about. The Indians do as good of job as any in baseball when it comes to harnessing a young pitchers control and how to go after a hitter.

Ryan came out in 2008 and had a great year at low A Lake County going 9-7 with a 3.76 with 101 K's, 57 walks, only 6 homeruns in 134.0 innings of work. For being just 20 years old that entire season those are very impressive numbers. He should start the 2009 season at high A Kinston.

I think a fair comparison for Morris might be Cliff Lee. They have similar stuff, are similar in size, and are both lefties with above average stuff.
